Neons Reiki Space

Neons Reiki Space is a community place located on my partner and I's property. It is used for individual reiki healing services, shares, and small group trainings or gatherings. When I was younger and living in the South, my aunts ran an eclectic beauty salon called Neons Salon. It was a place where women would come together and share their stories while sitting under hair dryers exchanging in the struggles and celebrations of life and being human. This was the place that I recall experiencing the feeling of community growing up. Neons Reiki Space credits its name to the energetic power of community experiences. It is a gathering place to connect, share ideas, challenges, stories, network, build, create, and heal. Sign up below to stay connected or reach out to Angelica with any questions.

Energetic Body & Health

The Energetic Body & Health

The Energetic Body & Health

Energetic health is critical to our abilities to connect with ourselves, others, and the world around; a key ingredient in our ability to feel empathy and act compassionately, as well as our ability to honor and understand diversity as a construct of health and healthy systems.

The Biofield

The biofield is defined as the interactive web or web(s) of the subtle endogenously generated biological energies that surround all living systems. The term was coined by the US National Institute of Health Conference in 1992  as a massless field, not necessarily electromagnetic, but one that surrounds, permeates and affects living bodies. The web is complex and organized, geometric and vibrational. Our fields are engaged in regulating biological function which alters our state of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing (Jain et al., 2015). The study of subtle energy bodies has also existed in cultures across the world throughout ancient history including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tibetan medicine, Japanese & Indigenous healing practices, Ayurvedic & Hindu philosophies as well as many others. Historical practices within these cultures of wisdom are based on the underlying intention to engage with ourselves through every layer of our being. Integrating routine practices that support the health and function of the energetic self can enhance our experience of connection and wholeness. Not just the good and joyful concepts of "healing", but all of us. There are a number of therapies and routine practices to support specific energetic needs such as more grounding, engagement if struggling with fatigue, clearing if feeling stuck, dense, or heavy. These are practices which can alter the physiologic- mental- emotional experiences ( anxiety, activated or stimulated nervous system, ect.). Angelica offers Reiki services and provides resources to assist clients in identifying some of their own energetic needs and routines that could be supportive. Angelica is currently training in additional biofield tuning/sound healing therapies and emotional freedom tapping. She also takes the lens of Ayurvedic, Hindu, & Japanese based breathing techniques to support energetic health through movement of vital force or (energy) from her Hatha Yoga studies.

Reiki

The Japanese art of Reiki is a minimally invasive energy healing therapy which helps to support and promote energetic health and wellness. Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “universal life or spirit” and (Ki) “energy or life force”. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion, religious practice, or belief system. Energy therapies can help to restore balance and harmony throughout the body, assisting to support regulation of the nervous system, often with a reduction in heart rate and blood pressure, as well as the improvement of ventilation as respiratory rate will often come down and improve in depth. Reiki can be helpful for a number of reasons along with maintaining healthy function of the physical, mental, and emotional bodies.

What's a typical session like?

A typical Reiki session will last for about 45-60 minutes. The Client remains clothed and will have the option to lie in a comfortable position on the table or a seated position in the chair. A session with Angelica involves an integrative and trauma informed approach which begins with identifying any intention you might have (if any) at the start of the session. For example pain, decreased mood, or anxiousness. You’ll be invited into a relaxed state through breath and have the opportunity to notice any physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual feelings that are surfacing in the moment as a way to enhance awareness of the energetic self and needs. After the Reiki session is complete, some time will be left for a client driven discussion.

Planetary Health

Planetary Health

We have known how interwoven the human to environment relationship is for the entirety of our evolving existence. Ancient and Indigenous wisdom traditions have lived in mutual relationship with the land for centuries. Diverse models of health and healing across the world are rooted in the fundamental qualities of our wholeness as an integrated internal and external collaborating network of systems. The interruption of harmony and flow to our bio-geologic fields experienced in response to polluted air, greenhouse gas emissions, rising heat temperatures, and the immeasurable amount of toxins in our water cycles , is causing universal stagnation and imbalance in our planetary systems health. The oppressions we both see and feel to our external climate environments are also impacting our internal environments. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report (2022) report outlines the ways in which climate change impacts health risk related to the vulnerability, exposures, and sensitivities of human systems and ecosystems which are reliant on the healthy biodiverse relationships of them.

A stressed climate, means an increase in heat waves, poor air quality, diminished marine life of our oceans, malnutrition of our soils and crops, extinction of species we depend on, and an increase in water contamination, as well as viral disease vectors. Any and all of these realities which we face today are contributors to the increased rates of human stress, anxiety, mental health imbalances, diabetes, infections, viruses, cases of childhood asthma, and on. Communities that have been isolated and structurally prohibited from thriving in our societies, such as BIPOC individuals, children, those living in poverty, and the vulnerable have contributed to these challenges the least but are often the most impacted.

Planetary boundaries; meaning the conditions needed for our planet to remain viable enough for life to exist on (Planetary Health Alliance, 2023), mark the need for access to resources and freedom from poverty to be addressed with justice, equity, and compassion (Planetary Health Alliance, 2023). The IPCC outlines resilience as the capacity for transformation (IPCC-6th). How we respond as a community to the factors influencing the changing climate and health, is determined by our efforts to create those resilient environments that are capable of transformation. That starts with us as individuals as well as a larger collective society. Cultivating that level peace and healing in the world, is an act we can ALL participate in.

Reintegrating ways of being that promote this sense of connection within our homes, families, workplaces, and communities is where honoring the wisdom of Indigenous and diverse cultural practices, as well as the advancements in biofield therapies and sciences can help us move forward. Sharing story and understanding it as each other's experiential truth, allows us to engage in the relatability of each other. In community, we feel less alone. Angelica's mission is to both share and continue learning the old-new ways of fostering resilient and thriving environments together.
